NEW ALBUM « Live! In Harmony »

Just a year and a half after the acclaimed release of Samuel Bonnet’s first trio album, Hybride – the songs of which have been featured in more than thirty concerts, including on tour in Canada and in performances at Jazzahead (Germany) and in New York and Paris – the Montreal guitarist of Franco-Israeli origin will launch his next album in autumn 2024: Live! In Harmony.

With excerpts from two concerts recorded at the Jazz Room (Ontario) and the Rucher de Bolton (Quebec) in November 2023, this live album bears witness to the adventurous relationship between three musicians always in search of greater cohesion, interaction, and unprecedented improvised surprises. It also pushes against the tide of an increasingly technological world by revealing unique moments shared intimately between the musicians and their audiences.

Incorporating revamped pieces such as “Nardis” and “Recuerdos de Alhambra” from Bonnet’s previous album, along with revisions of pieces like “My One and Only Love” and “Falling Grace,” Live! In Harmony explores the infinite instrumental possibilities of the trio format through arrangements that are at once gentle, subtly skillful, melodious, and percussive. In these ways, Samuel Bonnet continually deepens his approach to bringing the world of classical guitar closer to that of jazz and in harmony with his multicultural musical identity.
